Setting up SatSurf |
![]() ![]() |
On the first use of OPENSKY™, you will need to proceed to some settings, in order for SatSurf to work properly.
Depending on your satellite adapter, you might have to proceed to further settings while using SatSurf.
After OPENSKY™ installation, you will have to run OSWizard, the OPENSKY™ Registration Wizard. There you will specify a default dial-up connection to use with OPENSKY™. This very dial-up connection is used for SatSurf.
You can change this default dia-up connection at will within the Connections settings
Note: This dial-up is also used for other Internet connections of OPENSKY™, like SatKiosk content repairing via Internet (see Interacting with Jobs or Files list overview).
In the case where your system dial-up connections are not listed in the combo box within the Connections settings, you might want to use system commands to connect and disconnect to Internet. Type the complete path to your connection and disconnection commands in the text fields provided or browse to a command file with the browse button .
SatSurf requires a specific proxy configuration in order to work correctly. An option is available within the SatSurf settings to set proxy configuration automatically when you login to SatSurf. It also restores your previous proxy configuration when you logout.
This automatic proxy configuration works only for Microsoft Internet Explorer. If you are using any other Internet browser, or you do not want to enable automatic proxy settings, use the proxy parameters displayed when you login to set your proxy configuration manually.
Because automatic proxy setting is only available for Microsoft Internet Explorer and because many applications (like e-mail client applications) do not support proxies, OPENSKY™ introduces OPENSKY™ Direct Access (OSDA).
OPENSKY™ Direct Access is a network connection based on your dial-up connection that is more flexible and more compatible than basic SatSurf connection.
This type of connection is not activated by default, but we advise you to activate it if your system is compatible. You will then have a much better experience of OPENSKY™ SatSurf Service. To activate OPENSKY™ Direct Access, follow the procedure described in the OPENSKY™ Direct Access (OSDA) settings.
Thanks to OPENSKY™ owned protocol, you can connect to SatSurf, view tens of channels and download SatKiosk content from different transponders with a simple click. OPENSKY™ will automatically set your satellite adapter to listen to the proper transponder and allow your SatSurf connection.
This feature is available and has been tested with many satellite adapters and drivers. However, if your satellite adapter is not supported, you will have to set it manually. A message will tell you if your adapter is not compatible when attempting to login and logout to SatSurf. Simply follow the instructions on this message for manual settings.
